AARON FROSS. WHERE SHE BEGINS
As she floats through the world with her music... history of her isn't set yet.
BEGINNINGS
Aaron Fross (artist name of Jorige Jurgutyte), was born in November 1995 in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Her family, in particular her grandfather Jonas Trinkunas, are the founders of the biggest pagan community in Lithuania. From a young age Fross was brought to the folk music stage, and so very naturally grew up into a life filled with music, surrounded by folk songs and immersed in fairy tales.
EDUCATION
Fross finished 10 years of music school in Lithuania, where she developed her knowledge of music theory. This led her to realise that the academic side of music did not interest her. She wanted to experiment, meditate and create art by feeling it, to create with her heart and soul rather than the intellect. The rules and restraints that Fross experienced in her more conservative music education eventually led her to move out straight to the musical heart of Europe: London. A place that allowed her to search and experiment, grow and chase her dreams.
LONDON
Coming to London made Fross grow up. She started her studies at the Academy of Contemporary Music where she finally found the strength to start her own solo career. After many years of singing in her family folk band Kulgrinda and forming an acoustic duo called Double Aces Fross knew that even though she enjoyed working in a group, the only way to truly shape and bring to life her creative vision would be to go solo. So she finally decided to do things her own way and bring her vision to life.
INFLUENCES AND THE NAME
Her music combines elements from her roots in Lithuanian folk music with more modern influences like Enya, Lisa Gerrard, Sia, Massive Attack and Eurythmics.
The name Aaron Fross had been following her from a young age. First just a name, it soon became like an alter ego, a person without gender, a soul she turns into when the music takes her away.

KULGRINDA TIME
Aaron Fross' grandfather Jonas Trinkunas was the reviver of the ancient Baltic religion in Lithunania and was named the highest priest in Romuva comunity. Him and his wife Inija Trinkuniene were the founders of ritual folklore group Kulgrinda in 1989. Since early childhood Fross was a big part of it, touring the country, recording albums and participating in rituals. This has shaped her world view and influenced her musicly.

FROSS' MOTHER
Fross' mother, Žemyna Trinkūnaitė, was also very heavily involved in Kulgrinda's and Romuva's activities. Her father Jonas Trinkūnas had influenced her greatly and pushed her to create music too. Žemyna has been playing a traditional lithuanian intrument kankles since young age and she was the first one to start creating her own compositions on this instrument in the Lithuanian music scene. Her and Aaron have been collaborating on music projects together as well. Listen to Žemyna's music here :
MUSICAL PROJECTS WITH ŽEMYNA
In 2017 Fross had joined forces with her mother, her partner guitarist Niels Bakx and lithuanian artist and producer Donis. They have performed in lithuanian festivals and also started recording their creations. The production has taken some time and it is still work in progress, but this has encouraged mother and daughter to continue working together. Žemyna has been writing songs for a long time, but wasn't keen to record them herself, so she passed them on to Fross. Listen to their music here:
EARLY PROJECTS
Fross was always involved in music projects. In school she was the lead singer of the school band. One of her more official projects was the acoustic duo Double Aces she formed with her classmate Agata Karpej when they both moved to London. They gigged all over London, though the project ended with no official recordings due to heavy schedule and the financial pressure of new life in London alone as teenagers, it was the perfect beginning to Fross' musical journey in London. It is still in their wish to record the music they have created, but there are no plans on the horizon for now.
